Overview
Richard Lamb currently lives in Aiken, SC, where he free-lance teaches, rides and trains year-round. He also travels giving clinics in Dressage, Eventing and Show Jumping for all ages and levels of riders and horses.
His horse-related travels took him to Ireland for five years, where he rode event horses, show jumpers, racehorses, and hunted with the Tipperary Hounds. While in Ireland, he worked for 2 years with Eric Horgan, a member of the Irish Olympic Eventing Team.
After returning from Ireland, Richard started teaching, training, and traveling to give clinics in show jumping, eventing and dressage. Richard also has extensive experience designing and building SJ courses for SJ and Eventing.
Richard is certified at Level IV in the USEA Eventing Coaching Program (ECP). He is also certified at the USEA Young Event Horse (YEH) Professional Trainer Bronze Level (*with distinction). And for 30+ years, Richard has been a USPC National Examiner covering all Certification Levels.
In 2011, he was chosen to be Riding Coach for the 2011 US Pentathlon Team at the Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico where Margaux Isaksen won the Gold Medal and qualified for the 2012 London Olympic Games. In London, Richard also coached three US Pentathletes, where Margaux was placed 4th, missing the Bronze Medal by 3 seconds.
Since 2002, Richard has been either the coach or team manager for the US Pony Club pony jumper team competing at the USEF National Pony Jumper Championships held in conjunction with pony finals at Lexington KY. The USPC team and individual team members have been very successful over the years, winning medals of all three colors.
For the past 7+ years, Richard has been involved with the Retired Racehorse Project (RRP) and has judged the Show Jumping and Eventing divisions at the TB Makeover held in Lexington, KY. He enjoys working with young horses of all breeds.
